Sex offenders across California aren’t allowed within 2,000 feet of public parks or schools, and in Riverside County, they aren’t welcome within 300 feet. The county also has stronger restrictions on where sex offenders can live. Full Article
Riverside County would be wise to follow the lead of El Dorado County and repeal its ordinance…..soon.
I sure do hope they “do away” presence and residency restrictions in Riverside County because I spend one heck of allot of time there. Not only are these preemptive restrictions out of sync with the state and federal constitutions, but an example needs to be made showing that sex crimes aren’t going to go through the roof and that registrants aren’t the monsters everyone thinks. Hopefully the cities and towns in Riverside County will follow the lead and not get in such a tizzy if Janice decides to force any of them to comply with the law. I’m not really sure if, or which towns there have these now illegal ordinances but I suspect it will be in the more affluent areas of the Coachella Valley and the more densely populated areas where the lower and middle class live. Why an I getting the feeling this is going to become very interesting over the next few months? 🙂
